The flights have a very fine-grain silica coating that gives them a unique look, exceptional performance and extreme durability. This special processing strengthens the flight and makes it more resistant to damage. The slightly rough surface can be compared to very fine sandpaper. The increased surface area slows the dart down during flight and stabilizes its trajectory.
